The Helsinki University Museum preserves teaching and research equipment, furniture, works of arts and other valuable items.
The Power of Thought is the permanent exhibition of the Helsinki University Museum. It tells the fascinating story of the University of Helsinki from the founding of the Turku Academy in 1640 to the present day. Exhibition is located in the Helsinki University Main Building (Fabianinkatu 33).
Guided Tours in the City Campus of the University of Helsinki
The Helsinki University Museum celebrates the International Museum Day in 18.5. with guided tours in the City Campus. The tour in English departs from the main hall of Porthania building (Yliopistonkatu 3) in 4.30 pm. Tour consists also the Main Library (Kaisa House), the Main Building of the University, University museum and more. Registration: email@example.com (max. 20 persons). Free of charge.
The Helsinki Observatory of the Helsinki University Museum functions as a visitor centre that provides information about astronomy and its history, particularly to schoolchildren and other young visitors. The Observatory has a planetarium as well as a lecture room available for hire.
Museums collections will be relocating in 2014-15. Library, archive and photography services are closed.
